With a degree in Romance philology and an agrégation in higher secondary education, I was destined for a career as a French teacher. However, as other opportunities arose, I spent over 20 years as an executive assistant in a company operating in the mass retail sector. For me, as for many of us, the Covid crisis triggered a deep reflection on health and its place in our society. When my contract as a salaried employee came to an end, I jumped into the world of naturopathy with both feet, in order to put into practice the principles born of this reflection.
After a two-year training at the Institut Supérieur de Naturopathie Traditionnelle (ISNAT) in Genappe, I obtained my naturopathic certification. In accordance with the standards of the World Naturopathic Federation, this certification includes 2,660 hours of courses and has enabled me to train in anatomy-physiology, physiopathology, nutrition, vital hygiene, stress management, aromatherapy, phytotherapy, hydrotherapy, iridology, biological check-up, to name but a few. I am also a member of the Union des Naturopathes de Belgique (UNB), which has been recognized by the Conseil d'Etat since 2008.
In 2001, naturopathy was recognized as a “traditional medicine” by the WHO. There are three main types of traditional medicine: traditional Chinese medicine, traditional Indian medicine (Ayurveda) and traditional Western medicine (naturopathy). Naturopathy is complementary to allopathic medicine.
It takes a holistic view of the human being, considering not only physiology, but also the emotional, mental, energetic and spiritual dimensions. It acts on three poles: nutrition, movement and stress management.
It uses only natural, non-iatrogenic techniques such as phytotherapy, aromatherapy, hydrotherapy, respiratory techniques, manual techniques (massage, foot reflexology, etc.), body techniques (movement), energetic and vibratory techniques.
This approach emphasizes the notion of biological ground, which is central to naturopathy. Biological ground refers to all the characteristics (physiological and psychological) specific to an individual. Among these characteristics, we distinguish between innate parameters inherited through genetics (the constitution) and acquired parameters developed over time, as a result of choices made in the context of the individual's lifestyle (the temperament). A biological ground affected by overloads (intoxication) or deficiencies is conducive to the development of disease. A biological ground in homeostasis (healthy, balanced) ensures good health. Naturopathic cures enable you to cleanse your biological ground and regain your health.
I offer support for concerns such as dietary adjustments, digestive problems, stress management, sleep disorders, menopause/andropause, etc. This support is not a substitute for your general practitioner's care, and in no way interferes with any medication he or she may be prescribing.
A 1h30 consultation enables me to understand your constitution, your temperament and the state of your biological ground. This consultation takes place in two stages: first, I observe your morphology (no need to undress you), then I take an anamnesis, i.e. I ask you a series of questions about your history and lifestyle. During this first consultation, you'll tell me what your expectations are.
After this first consultation, I'll work on drawing up a lifestyle program, which you'll receive at a second consultation a week later. This program is personalized, i.e. adapted to your constitution and temperament. It includes advice on diet, stress management and exercise. It may also include cures or therapeutic practices in line with your expectations. The aim of this lifestyle program is to help you improve your health and achieve your goals. This lifestyle program does not constitute a diagnosis and is not a substitute for follow-up by a general practitioner.
At ISNAT, I was also trained in manual massage techniques. I can offer you a relaxing/draining massage lasting 60 to 90 minutes. This massage can be part of your vital hygiene program, but you can also benefit from it without coming in for a consultation.
